Confused Little Bird?

I thought woodpeckers pecked trees and metal rain spouts, but not this guy (gal?). He was hard at work at the pavement in the alley. I quickly snapped this pic and, in a attempt to get closer, chased him off his hunt. I believe he is a Northern Flicker Woodpecker.
